Jim’s approach is to actively engage with clients to identify specific long term goals and personal value systems. Prior to starting Fulcrum Wealth Advisors, Jim spent over four year with Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. were he served as Director-Investments working with both not-for-profit organizations and high net worth families. Jim worked at UBS, for over 8 years, as Vice President – Investments and at US Bancorp / Piper Jaffray, for over 7 years, where he specialized working with the owners of private companies. Prior to joining Piper Jaffray as the marketing manager of a large regional financial planning firm. Jim began his financial services career in the trust department of a First Interstate Bank.
Jim earned his BA in Corporate and Investment Finance (Western Washington University) and has graduated from the College of Financial Planning. Jim is a past member of the Board of Trustees for the College Club Charitable Foundation, and past member of the Board of Trustees for the College Club of Seattle as well as a member of the Financial Management Association. Jim is a past member of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Planned Giving Committee. Jim is also an active member of the Seattle Philanthropic Advisor Network.
Michael S. Rose
Having been in the investment advisory business for over 40 years, Michael has had the privilege of working with some of the largest corporation and wealthiest families on six of the seven continents.
He has been affiliated with three international brokerage houses during his career, these being: Warburg-Paribas- Becker, First Boston Corporation, and Montgomery Securities (now Bank of America). Michael has assisted his clients in the use of asset allocation, cash management portfolios and equity trading.
Michael’s clients, over the years, have been have been listed in Forbes as some of the wealthiest individuals in the world.
Currently Michael assists Family offices, Wealthy families, Foundations, and Corporations with their investment advisory needs. He also assists a multi-billion dollar family office with their trading needs.
Michael’s experience in asset allocation, portfolio development and management, has allowed him to distinguish himself within his industry.
For the last thirty five plus years, Jack has been a practitioner in the field of professional investing. He has coached and mentored financial professionals relating to the global capital markets, and worked to help them become better stewards of their clients' wealth.
Jack reached a point in my career where he want to put his experience to work, helping individuals and families puruse their financial goals.
To fulfill this desire, it was necessary to move out of the corporate world and become the fiduciary to the end investor, responsible for their wealth and financial well-being. Jack has a particular interest in helping clients reduce their tax burden, manage their income after retirement, and help correct any misalignment of existing portfolios as related to their financial goals.
Jack spent a great deal of time and energy searching for a like-minded group of individuals interested in helping people pursue their financial goals, rather than just selling them investment products.

Prior to joining Fulcrum Wealth Advisers, Jack spent thirty one years at Russell Investment Company. Over that time frame he had a broad range of experiences, including, Director of Bank Development, teaching portfolio construction and asset allocation to financial professionals. He has helped over a thousand financial professionals, become better stewards of their clients’ financial bell being. Jack also developed investment and training programs in portfolio construction for the National Bank of Saudi Arabia, and Bank Franke, of Switzerland.
Additionally Jack created the first retirement and investment education program for the pilots and engineering teams at United Parcel Services (UPS) in Louisville, KY.
Through public and corporate forums, Jack has provided public speaking seminars on Social Security, advanced Tax Management implementation, and retirement income. He has also authored many presentations relating to the constantly changing face of global economics, along with its risks and benefits to investors.
From 1980 to 1985, Jack helped the brokerage firm of Paine Weber Jackson and Curtis develop one of the original fee based programs designed to reduce excessive trading within an investor’s portfolio.
Prior to entering the world of investing Jack was City Manager of Oak Park, IL. There he had responsibility of all city departments, six hundred employees and a fifty million dollar operating budget. As part of those duties, he also sat on the restoration board overseeing the preservation of thirty-seven original Frank Lloyd Wright homes. During his tenure as manager, he received an international award for creative and effective management, from the International City Management Association. The award was a result of work involving racial integration and a community-wide equity assurance program.
Jack's military service was in the US Army. He jokes that he marched so poorly that they assigned him a civilian status post. He worked in the White House providing communications, security, and advance work for the President, and Secret Service. These duties included leading advance teams on both the Moscow and Peking summit conferences.
Jack holds a bachelor degree from the University of Oregon, and a Master’s degree from the University of Kansas. He has been accepted into a program focusing on Global Economics and Policy, at Oxford University UK. He is a past member of the National Rotary, Kiwanis, and Optimist Organizations.
